A taxon of clam thought to beryllium extinct has been recovered alive. The lone erstwhile grounds of the taxon was from a fossil collected successful 1937.
Jeffrey Goddard astatine the University of California, Santa Barbara, made the unexpected find successful 2018 portion exploring the adjacent shores of Naples Point. During his hunt of the rocky tidal area, Goddard was instantly intrigued by a brace of centimetre-long clams, each waving an arsenic agelong white-striped foot.
